Inner-city Organizers providing a platform for residents’ to share their concerns through the Community Voices Survey, and methods of resolve at planned Community Concerns gatherings.
A diverse group of local inner-city organizers is taking the pulse of those who live in the Heart of Knoxville. Their “stethoscope” is a survey that asks inner-city residents what they care about, and about their quality of life.
“During an election year, the voices of many inner-city residents are not often heard from in an organized, unified way. This survey intends to change that,” said Tanisha Baker, Five Points Up Director.
Over 700 residents have responded to the survey. Respondents and interested inner-city residents are invited to participate in a think tank, brainstorming session to express their concerns. If you live in Knoxville’s inner-city and would like to take the survey you can access it at
The first of many Community Conversations will be Thursday, June 20, 6 – 8 pm, at Overcoming Believers Church, at 211 Harriet Tubman St. The meeting agenda includes sharing the top issues of concern from the survey; and how to best address current and future policy-makers with the most pressing concerns.
Community Conversations representatives plan to offer the ideas and potential solutions that emerge from residents at a Mayoral Candidates Forum.
