The Knox County Democratic Party’s annual Truman Day event will be at 6:30 pm on Friday, May 31, at the Foundry World’s Fair Park.
The guest speakers are two dynamic women. Memphis Rep. Karen Camper who is the first African-American to be elected as House Minority Leader of the Tennessee House of Representative, and Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero who is the first woman elected as Mayor of the City of Knoxville.
House Minority Leader Camper is an Army veteran who has served in the House since 2008. She was also a nominee for the Speaker of the House position.
Mayor Madelyn Rogero is term-limited and is completing 2019; the final year of her second term.
Truman Day is the annual gathering and fundraising event of the Democratic party. The party currently holds 26 of the 99 seats in the House and is making promising strides with candidates across the state.
