Candidate Praise Unity of Knox Community During Fire

Dear Friends,

Last week, Knoxville’s first responders raced into harm’s way in order to protect our neighbors in the Lincoln Park community. They worked tirelessly day and night to put out the large fire that threatened lives and property. Thankfully, the fire was extinguished without serious injury.

They were not alone. Emerald Youth Foundation, the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross offered a caring hand to those who were displaced from their homes due to the fire. Several area restaurants, including Rankin and Yassin’s Falafel House, provided food to first responders and those in need. Not to mention the many neighbors who offered their homes and spare beds to evacuees.

The response to the fire is inspiring and is one of the many reasons that I love Knoxville. It shows Knoxville at its best – where courageous first responders protect us all, even at their own peril, and caring people lend a hand to those in need.

For all the first responders, community groups and businesses that helped last week, Thank you! You make Knoxville proud!
