Reynard Parris is the father of Linda Parris-Bailey, Knoxville’s playwrite-in-residence and founder of the world-renowned local Carpetbag Theatre.
(ROCKLEDGE, FL) – Reynard Parris was born on Nov. 25, 1925 in Bayside, NY. He was 93-years old when he died on Monday March 11, 2019, at the Edward M. Poe Hospice Care Center in Titusville, FL.
He moved to Brevard County in 2006 from Coram, NY. He was a motorman with the New York City Transit Authority and a veteran of the US Navy. He was also a member of the NYC Transit Authority Retirees of Florida.
Reynard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betsy. He is survived by daughter, Rasheedah Muslim (Abdullah) of Rockledge, FL; son, Reginald Parris (Jackie) of Monument, CO; daughter, Linda Parris-Bailey (Emanuel) of Knoxville, TN; and son, Barry Parris (Ivet) of Miami, FL. He had nine grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 S. US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL at 2:00 P.M. Service will follow at 3:00 P.M. He will be interred in Florida Memorial Gardens.
