Project GRAD is in its second season of recruiting and training students for Hands on the Future paid summer internships. This competitive opportunity is available to qualified juniors and seniors from Austin-East and Fulton High Schools. Fourteen local businesses have committed to hosting a total of 23 interns this 2019 summer.
A vital part of student preparation took place during an eight-hour Workplace Readiness training on Saturday, February 16. The day was hosted by Dean Rosalyn Tillman at the Pellissippi State Magnolia Avenue Campus. Workplace Readiness topics were facilitated by Project GRAD staff and community partners, Tyvi Small and Anderson Olds (University of Tennessee Diversity and Engagement), and Deborah Porter (Operation Hope).
Students engaged in beneficial sessions such as:
*Internship 101: What Makes an Internship So Valuable?
*Developing and Promoting Yourself
*Taking Responsibility for Yourself
*Budgeting and Finance
*Building a Quality Resume
*Interviewing and Networking Skills
